How to Make This Winter a Wonderland: Holiday Activities

IMG_1338It seems that as you grow older, the holidays don’t feel the same as they did when you were younger. The stories and traditions can often lose their spark, but it’s up to you to keep the holiday fire burning. Even though you may be losing touch with your younger, more festive self, these holiday activities are sure to bring the wonder back this holiday season.

1. Ice Skating

This is my absolute favorite part of the holiday season. Each year an ice rink is set up in the middle of downtown for everyone to grab a pair of skates and glide their troubles away. For some people, ice skating can be a bit tricky, so make sure to grab a group of your favorite people to hold on to!

2. Christmas Tree Lighting

Every year, around the beginning of December, multiple cities will have Christmas tree lighting ceremonies. If you’re in Los Angeles, you can visit The Grove, Third Street Promenade, or even LMU for one of these super cute events. Expect hot chocolate and some super cute stores to shop at.

3. Themed Parties

Nothing represents the holidays more than dressing up in your favorite holiday outfit. Whether it be a cute Mrs. Clause costume, an adorable Hanukkah sweater, or just a simple red dress, everyone can enjoy the festivities. Make sure to check out BuzzFeed Food for some awesome ideas on an apple cider punch (spiked or not)!

4. Holiday Shopping

I mean, I know, this is a no-brainer, but the festive decorations definitely make it feel more about the holidays than usual. Plus, all the holiday sales?! Easily one of the best times of the year. Refer back to a previous ColourPop gift guide for some great ideas.

5. Hanukkah Festivities

Since a Christmas tree lighting may not be the ideal holiday activity for those who celebrate Hanukkah.

No matter how you or what you celebrate, there are so many ways to get in the holiday spirit. Get your festive on! What are your favorite holiday traditions?
