There are supposedly three meals in a day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well, whoever decided that clearly doesn’t know about every Los Angeleonean’s favorite meal — brunch! Brunch is the perfect time of day for a person like me, who thrives on breakfast food but never wakes up early enough for the appropriate “breakfast time.” When I wake up on a Sunday morning after a long Saturday night, brunch is the one thing that gets me up and out of my warm bed.
One of my favorite parts of living in Los Angeles is exploring the city to find the perfect place to order a mimosa and sit down for my first meal of the day. After going to school in LA for nine months, I’ve managed to create a list of my go-to brunch spots.
I’m a huge lover of French toast, and this little restaurant in Venice Beach serves just about the best I’ve ever had! 26 Beach Restaurant, in a cute and quirky spot on Washington Boulevard, is known for its bright pink patio umbrellas and unbelievable French toast menu. The restaurant has two separate dining areas– “The Garden” and “Dining Room.” The garden side features a pretty mural on a brick wall while the other displays a love letter on the wall worthy of the countless Instagrams.
The artwork is not the only Instagram-worthy part, though. The food is awesome, not only in it’s looks (which it definitely is), but also in it’s taste. When I went to 26 Beach for the first time, I ordered The Verry Berry French toast, and was not disappointed one bit. The fresh fruit on top of the golden brown French toast was totally drool worthy. I did decide to substitute the chocolate sauce for maple syrup, but that’s just personal preference. I won’t tell you how to live your life.
Overall, this place is one of my top favorite brunch restaurants in Los Angeles. I love it so much that I try to convince my friends to take me there almost every Sunday. You definitely need to check it out!
